I chose one day each week of March to do silly socks, funny hats, Wacky Wednesday, and fun treats for the month. Each day we read and did some sort of learning activity with letters to celebrate phonics and reading.
The students loved it! We all had our favorite books. Building words. Rhyming. Finding silly words.
And then...Mystery Readers once a week! Parents were able to keep the secret!
So many different books.
So much excitement! The students had to be reminded to be good listeners!
Reading with a friend was always a treat! And reading with a stuffed buddy was quiet fun too.
How many questions does a Kindergartner have when a book is being ready? It depends on what they think a question is! I always taught the difference between a question and a story. Are you telling me something you want me to know? Are you asking for some more information?
My heart flip-flopped with this Mystery Reader! A former student (now a second grader) wanted to come read for his brother's class. His pick? The Sneetches! That is one of the harder books...but so fitting for this particular group.
