Following directions and showing little kids what to do is fun as a K5er!  Give them a job and watch them beam with pride at the responsibility!

I wish I would have been to keep documenting all the fun this group of children brought to learning.  But March 12, 2020...it seemed like the whole world was shut down by fear.  As a K5 teacher, I was unfazed by germs.  Kindergartners are known to be gross and carriers of all sorts of germs!  I have been sneezed on, coughed on, wet on, puked on, and touched by high fevers.  It is part of the transition from home to public life, young to growing up, with parents constantly to new authority.  We were taught to cover your mouth, keep your hands out of your nose and mouth, wash your hands with soap and water, and stay home if you have a fever.

The Covid virus caused sane people to veer from everything we have been taught for years in Science and Health class and at home.  Government officials brought fear to levels never seen before and the world spiraled out of control into nonsense.  My school bags sat in the corner of our dining room for days.  Then I brought school home to our basement to teach on video till the end of the year.  I missed my little friends.  But each day...we practiced and learned.  We got through our lessons...even though it looked different!  That is what a true teacher does...she does whatever she needs to do to help her students/families.  I am thankful for the crazy times in teaching.  I loved that part of my life with our children...and I did my best each day to share that with other children.  Never lose the love of learning...and practice it every day of your life!
