March is always filled with Dr. Seuss fun! A special idea from a parent, "Have you ever done a Secret Reader?" OOOO, fun! So I sent out a note for parents to respond it and kept it a secret from the students who would be coming and when (for just in case there were changes or cancellations!). We had dads, moms, grandparents, and even a sibling come read their favorite book in our reading chair.
Such a fun opportunity to get parents involved and spend time in the classroom for a short time. I set aside 15-20 minutes and kept the time flexible to work with work schedules. I highly recommend this activity!
**Sidenote...children DO NOT NEED TO KNOW EVERYTHING ahead of time...contrary to what some people think! If thing need to change or look different...you then have wiggle room instead of having to explain yourself or deal with the inevitable "You promised!"
