Lots of letter practice!

At the beginning of the year, we used lots of different letter manipulatives to learn to recognize the letters.  I used all the different letters in various lessons.  Students then had full access to the variety of activities the remainder of the year to use during free time or as I put out certain activities for the morning.

Laminated sheet of letters for students to mark off with a dry erase marker when they found the letter in the sensory bottle.  I made the bottles with various materials and letter beads from the craft store.  Hot glue the lid onto the bottle after you fill them with rice, oil, water, or hair gel.
Magnetic letters are used in K5 for all sorts of activities!  These students were saying the name and sound of each letter as they sorted them by rainbow colors.  I put them on the magnetic white board, my desk, or metal cabinets for students to play with...making sounds, sorting like letters, making blends, their names, and words.
