February- 100th Day

100 things to make a snack mix!  Students washed their hands and then we walked around the room to stations to count out 10 different little treats from 10 different plates to put in their bag.  Parents sent in small treats for us...cereal, candies, pretzels, goldfish, marshmallows, etc.  If students did not like a choice or had a restriction, they could count more from another plate.
Fun clowns using tp tubes in 10 different colors of acrylic paint on plates.  Students wore paint smocks and carried their pre-directed drawing faces to the different paint stations.  Cutest clowns ever!
The year we made t-shirts with 100 things on them!  Such cute ideas from families.  This simple poster and streamers (all stuff found in the cabinet of all things) greeted them for the day.
Fun color page for a coloring contest!
Another year...gumball machines using 10 different color dot markers to make gumballs...10 of each.  "Teacher, how many do I have?" To which I answered, "Did you count them?"  Do not do for your students what they can do for themselves!  Teach them to do the hard things, and it gives a chance for friends to help friends!
Counting and counting!
Get an old side table or coffee table with a drawer and add rocks of all sorts.  It is a fun way to use loose parts on the table or the floor.  I saw this idea at a coffee shop up north with my sister and came home and added it to our K5 classroom.  That was the beginning of the end!  There is no limit to ideas you can gather and use to aide learning in all subject areas.
