All December we celebrated with special activities. The final party day was set up by the teacher. Parents contributed all month long in whatever way they wanted. They also would send in parts for the Polar Express breakfast. I made green waffles (trees) and would pop them in the toaster. We would have white or chocolate milk (so many this particular year did not like hot chocolate), fruit, and they would decorate their waffle trees with syrup, sprinkles, mini choc chips, and whipped cream. I would play the movie while I served them and they ate.
We finished the day and season around the tree singing Christmas carols in our jammies. How it touched my heart to hear them tell about the Christmas story in their own words and what it meant for us today. We have fun. We are silly with the elf and all the activities to make learning fun, but Christ is Christmas...and every Kindergartener who spent the year with me...left knowing that Jesus came for them...He loves them...and He wants to be their Savior and friend.
