I am not sure who is more excited about Grandparent's Day in our K5...the grandparents or the students!?! We invite Grandparents in to visit in April as an advertisement to our May graduation program. We also want to say "Thank You" for all their help too! Many grandparents live close enough to be involved in the family life each week or month, so I get to meet them. We share a special verse, song, and poem. Then we "show off" with some of our favorite drills and games inviting the grandparents to do it with us.
The extra-special part is when the students get to go for lunch with grandparents for their afternoon. Don't be nervous! If your school allows it, invite people into your classroom to show them what happens each day. It is a way to connect with the families and thank them for all their support.
