A special service project

We brought in all sorts of special items to make care bags to take to the cancer treatment center in our city.
I looked up ideas for what would be most helpful to people enduring chemotherapy treatments.  I also called the center to see if this is something they would accept.
Parents donated.  We counted and sorted.
We followed directions about what to put in each bag.
We chatted about helping people who were not feeling well and how we hoped these things would make them feel a little better.
They were so careful to put only one of each item in the bag so we could make lots of bags!

We love it when Miss M and Miss A would come and help us in our classroom!
This group loved doing this project!  They drew happy little pictures which I color copied and we made cards to go in each bag.  We shared the love of Jesus. We told the people that we prayed for them.  We prayed for the people that would get the bag.
The day I took the bags, every chair was full of patients.  The nurse allowed me to pass out the care bags.  Tears filled my eyes as I walked out of the cancer center.
