We tend to decorate for December with more fun and sparkles. Why not keep it up for January?!
Make it all about snow and snowflakes and snowmen! We live in the Midwest and the winter months can get so gloomy and cold. So I always kept the tree up and changed it to a snow theme with winter animals.
Think of fun things....bring snow into the classroom on trays to play with the little animals, freeze pans of ice to paint on with watercolors and shake salt on top, make snow dough (baking soda, cornstarch, and conditioner). Let your imagination loose as you build solid foundations for reading, writing, and arithmetic.
