Activities set out to welcome students in the morning. It gives them time to adjust to school schedule after the rush of the morning. They get to interact and talk with friends. They have time to wake up. They have time to unpack and use the bathroom.
First day can be hard. Build in play times and free times. Have fun things to do as you practice learning all the expectations each day.
Listen to the children as they play.
Do not be tempted to orchestrate every playtime and opportunity. Let children figure it out for themselves.
You can learn so much from them and about them as you watch and listen!
