"You are the bestest reader ever!"

As it should be!  Teachers should be the "bestest readers ever".  Do all the voices.  Cry.  Scream.  Yell.  Get their attention.  Show them the way to enjoy all the stories.  Talk about the author, illustrator, and characters.  Ask questions...let the children talk and ask questions.  Teach the difference between the two!
Build a love for books!  Teach children how to take care of books.  "Here is an old book from when I was little.  I have taken good care of it!"  How old is that book?  "Let's look...inside the book it tells us when it was published...printed...oooo, 1957...that was before I was born!"  HOW OLD ARE YOU?!  "I am older than you!  And older than most of your parents.  I like old books!"  My Dad is 35, are you 38?  "Ummm, well...yes, I could be...but older than that!"  Are you 13?  "Uhhh, NO."  102!  "Well, we have some work to do on numbers...how about let's just read this book for now!?"

And remember to laugh!
