We used wooden letters I have in my collection to build blends and words. We made new words by switching out the different letters. We made words that rhyme. We could use the word in a sentence and practice the meaning of the word.
This was a good review for letter recognition as well as practice reading. I gave him some words that used new special sounds as well to make it "really hard"!
