Don't ever discredit the use of clothespins and magnets for the students to manipulate! These simple activities build hand strength and hand eye coordiantion. Even though students can read simple words by this time in the year, do not stop using letter review activities as well. Developing brains need constant practice to keep building strong connections with letters and sounds.
