Pouring, scooping, measuring, digging, sorting, squishing, pulling, stacking...
are just some of the things children can do with a sensory table. I was able to use these little plastic pellets to make a space theme. We enjoyed a multi-colored rice theme for the beginning of the year. We dug out letters and numbers. I recycled an old under the bed storage container Velcro onto our short shelf. We allowed 2 students at a time to use the table. If they made a mess on the floor, they had to clean it up. "If I have to vacuum it up, it will be gone soon. The table will quickly empty and we want to enjoy it for a long time." I was teaching children to be careful. I was teaching them respect for the supplies we had in our classroom. I was teaching them that I am not the maid of Kindergarten!
